The stunning surroundings of St Werburgh’s Church provide the perfect backdrop for a concert of two exceptional halves by musicians from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Bill Whelan’s lively and engaging Connemara Suite, with violinists Róisín Walters and Lynda O’Connor, is performed by the RIAM Chamber Orchestra, regarded as one of Ireland’s most exciting young chamber ensembles, in addition to music by Arthur Duff and Bill Thorp. The RIAM Chorale’s programme of haunting and heartening Irish melodies featuring such favourites as She Moved Through the Fair, The Last Rose of Summer and The Star of the County Down will undoubtedly send TradFest audiences home with a spring in their step. The Royal Irish Academy of Music is proud to participate in TradFest, one of The Gathering’s flagship events.
