Straddling the biting cold of late January and the first, tentative taster of spring, the year’s festival caught the zeitgeist on a few occasions and ran with it as fast as it’s legs could carry it.

Temple Bar Trad is Dublin's premier celebration of traditional music and culture. It's hard to believe that before the first ever Temple Bar Trad in January 2006, Dublin had lacked a traditional music festival for almost twenty years! Temple Bar Trad is all about the music. The festival was named Best Traditional Music Festival in the 2008 and 2009 Festival Awards and continues to go from strength to strength every year. 2011 will be the festival’s most ambitious programme to date with more events taking place over the five day festival than ever before.

Each year, we try and bring some of Ireland's top traditional musicians (and sometimes a few friends from overseas as well!) to play during the festival weekend. Concerts range from small intimate affairs in the New Theatre to larger performances at The Button Factory - all guaranteeing a memorable night of music! This year we are adding the historic surrounds of Christchurch cathedral to our list of venues for headline concerts. We will also have an extensive family and outdoor program which will include street performances, outdoor music stages, Irish cultural workshops and performances in the Ark Temple Bar. The Temple Bar TradFest is organised and project managed by Temple Bar Traders, the local traders group in Temple Bar as a non-profit venture. We pump every cent into presenting musicians and performances of the highest calibre at the lowest feasible ticket price, thus opening up the festival to as broad an audience as possible.
